Penang Hospitality

In order for us to lure our lady from KL, sacrificing her weekend to be in Penang, we have to plan out her itenary from arrival to departure. Really have to treat her like VIP as we need to leverage on her.

Of course limo pickup upon arrival at 10.35am from Penang International Airport  & checked into Mayang Hotel. Brunch was hot & sour fishhead mi hoon soup & oyster omelette before sending her to the office to start work from 1pm to 6pm.

Dinner was seafood steamboat & baked crabs - served in private home in Sg Batu !!

Self help with whatever is in the fridge - dark chocolate !!

Big prawns are hidden at the bottom !!

Cinderella got back just past midnight.

She was charged with negative ions for 7 hours during sleep so that she's ready to face another day.

Sunday session was from 10am to 4pm with snacks, pizza and laksa in between to her lady's delight.

No time was wasted to rush her to the airport for take off at 5.30pm !!

[Hope no traffic ticket !!]

 Lady, happy with Penang hospitalities ? 

We are glad for her help towards our goal to Taiwan in September. 

Thank you dear. See you in March.  



New Year Brunch

It was a pleasant surprise to receive an invitation from Eddie in his New Year greeting for brunch on New Year day. Well, we do meet up once awhile to have dim sum. Maybe should consider we are dim sum partners. It has been over a year since we last had one together. The appointment was at 11am. Huh.....at 11 am, Hong Yann was still in bed from his late night & slept thru alram. Eddie was in Tesco........wonder what's he up to there !

Finally we met up at our regular place ie Maxim Dim Sum Restaurant in Taman Pekaka. As usual, the place is packed & we managed to get a table inside near the toilet. Hehehe.....luckily no smell.

BP birthday celebration

Due to Elite Conference in Genting, last Monday NHS talk was postponed. 

This month's training was brought forward.

Due to the juggling of dates, we have double celebration.

1. Full moon of Ricky's grand daughter with nasi minyak.

2. Advance birthday for GP Bryan.

It was meant to be a surprise for the birthday man tonight.

Members were informed via mobile SMS. 

Jou & Su Li were assigned to do a short video clip.

Frantically looking for his photos collection.

Only then we realised we have limited shots.

It was too late to ask Lynn to provide as almost midnight on Sunday.

We have to make do with whatever we have in hand. 

After breakfast, baking began - to do a quick one as I have not much time. 

Rich fruit cake - one cake kill two birds [birthday and Christmas !!]

Mouth to mouth

Have missed out the potluck on 5th Monday in August & November. M, KE, J, SL & myself decided we'll have fishhead curry instead. Place chosen was Curry House in Sg Ara which is not too far for everyone after work.

We ordered a fishhead which is huge.  

Salad with sambal belacan

Fried mixed vegs

Fried chicken and also egg omelette

J was given the honour to dissect the fish head

End results...after J's resuscitation.

My advise, never let J do CPR on you !!!

We had 2 hours good fellowship. We want crabs..........that'll be in our menu for the next meet. :)  

Spaghetti Carbonara

Home cooked food



Campbell mushroom soup - add finely chopped fresh mushrooms, cream and water

Garnish with croutons and dash of pepper

Spread butter, garlic and parsley flakes over baguette slices

Toast in oven till brown.

Fry bacon bits till crispy.

Blanch lettuce,

Stir fry four season beans

Mix all & toss well with french dressing

Roast the seasoned chicken wings in oven till cooked

Fry squids & prawns

Add in cream, eggs & cheese

Pour over cooked spaghetti 

Garnish with basil leaves

[tabasco sauce & pepper for those who like it spicey]

Seafood Paella

Have the opportunity to watch the preparation of seafood paella recently.

Fairly simple to prepare.

 

 Saute diced onion in extra virgin olive oil till fragrant

Add diced tomato and tumeric powder

Add in Paprika powder 

Add washed rice, salt and stir to mix

  

Add ikan bilis stock to cover rice

 Add cut squid seasoned with paprika & diced red bell pepper

When rice is half cooked, arrange prawns seasoned with paprika on top

Brush olive oil & sprinkle parsley flakes before serve



Poh Piah - Hokkien Style

Sengkuang & carrots cut into strips & fry till fragrant

Four season beans & leek cut thinly & fry till fragrant

Bean cake cut into strips & fried till slightly brown

Boil belly pork & cut into strips. Keep stock for use later

Chop prawns coarsely [optional]

Bamboo shoots into strips [optional]

Put all into a big pot & cook till soft

Beat egg & fry thinly, cut into strips

Fried shallots, poh piah skin, chilly sauce, dark sauce & sweet sauce,

chinese lettuce & crab meat.  

Spread sauce on poh piah skin & place leaf of lettuce

Scoop cooked vegetables on top of lettuce

Garnished with egg strips, crab meat & fried shallots 

Wrap up & cut into bite size.

Serve dry or wet.
