Treasured Collection

At a recent wedding dinner of my niece at Trader's Hotel,
I met Datuk & Datin Chan.
Datin was excited & showed me the photo below which she found in her closets.
She kept it in her handbag just in case she bumps into me.
This was taken in front of the headmistress' quarter of Union Institution, Burma Road.
I borrowed it home to scan as I do not have many childhood photos.
I have Datin to thank for this fond memories.

This morning as I have no other appointment,
So, drove to Datin's house to return the original photo.
I brought along Mum & the mum's 80th birthday scrap book to show Datuk & Datin

Both of them & their grandson have a fun time browsing thru our family photos.

Layered cake [original flavour] from Sunflower, Tanjung Bunga was served.
Personally I find the layered cake from Yew, Nirvana Road, taste better.

After spending 1.5 hours chatting & catching up on the latest news,
Mum & I departed in search for lunch.
Undecided what & where to eat, I just drove round & round.
End up at Sushi King, Gurney Plaza.

Aroma of garlic at midnight

Returned from work last night and was feeling hungry.
What can I prepare that's quick & easy.
Nothing too heavy as it's already past midnight.
I found a stick of baquette which I bought from Jusco in the afternoon.

Cut French Bread [baguette] into slices about 1cm thick

Spread a layer of butter & chopped garlic

Sprinkle dried parsley on top
Baked in oven for 10 minutes on 180C

Just love the aroma of the garlic bread.
It's so crispy !!
Felt satisfied after that.

Cempedak - Ganja

I am not a fan of cempedak. However when I was introduced to this specie Ganja Cempedak last year by Jou. I just long to taste it again. Waiting was a year & on Monday I was given a fruit. Left it wrapped in newspaper to ripen. This morning, the house was filled with the cempedak fragrance that no way anyone can hide the fruit.

The cempedak was cut & this specie just doesn't require to deep fried. In fact it's meant to be eaten raw. The seed inside is so small as can be seen from photo. The flesh is thick, not fibrous & orangish red in colour. Taste is heavenly  & so sweet. Just cant resist to take one after another. Can get addicted to as the name suggest - Ganja !!

Thank you Jou for blessing us with this wonderful fruit.

1 tablespoon of Rose light soya sauce
Pepper powder to taste
